AOTS – About Us

Our mission is to TEACH, PROMOTE and BUILD.

We believe that teaching life skills gives autistic people the essential tools needed to navigate the world around them. Promoting independence enables individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder learn to advocate for themselves. Building confidence in people with different abilities helps them to live their best lives. Awesome on the Spectrum Inc. works to educate the community about the many elements of autism and how the inclusion of autistic people in all aspects of life betters society as a whole.

I am a native of Youngstown, Ohio. I’m a former Navy wife and a mother of two children ages 17 and 19. As a military family we have traveled all over the U.S. from Florida to South Carolina to Washington state to Delaware.

I’ve been working in the nonprofit sector since 2008. My current position is in the human resources department as an HR Generalist.

I am a lifetime supporter/cheerleader of my kids. I am thankful for God, my husband, my parents, church family, friends, teachers, and my community for their continued guidance and support. I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child and I was honored to be asked to join the board of Awesome on the Spectrum. I’m glad I am able to use my talents to continue to help children grow and reach their full potential in every way. Our children are our future. We owe it to them to give them the best of each of us.

How will you help?

Gloria Jenkins

Treasurer

I am the grandmother of a young man with autism. I am learning more each day about what it means to have autism spectrum disorder and how family members can support their loved ones with autism.

It is my hope that my own grandson and your family members have the same opportunities as everyone else to live their very best lives.

I am happy to serve as treasurer of Awesome on the Spectrum as I have over 30 years of upper management and financial experience.

I enjoy meeting and lending support to the children and families of AOTS and relish my role as resident “grandmother” to all of them.
